(How Much Is That) Doggie In The Window

I saw today that they’re moving the charts to Friday nights to put the UK in line with the rest of the world. Feels like Radio 1 have just micturated on my childhood. I used to have a Pavlovian reaction to Mark Goodiers voice, where I would sit, fingers over play and record, waiting to tape the good songs, sometimes just guessing on the strength of the title.

Anyway. You know this song from playschool. It’s weird listening to it as an adult. Let’s take a moment to mourn the loss of good novelty songs, in these days of streaming and everything getting it’s 2 minutes.

I have a playlist that contains every UK number one song since charts began in 1952. Thanks to EveryHit, this is a fairly simple process. Let’s remind ourselves of these songs.
